The Tom Houghton Quartet is an organ-led ensemble that blends the soulful grooves of 1950s hard bop with the blues-drenched energy of Hammond organ greats such as Jimmy Smith and Larry Young, reimagined through a contemporary lens.
Led by guitarist Tom Houghton, the quartet brings together musicians from across the UK jazz scene, featuring Conrad Clenton on tenor saxophone, Lucas Kelly on Hammond organ, and Hugo Bólon on drums. The group breathes new life into lesser-played compositions by hard bop giants such as Hank Mobley, Jackie McLean, and Joe Henderson alongside original material.
Currently based in Leeds, the quartet has been formed as part of Houghton’s final recital for his BA in Jazz Guitar at Leeds Conservatoire, where all members are active within the city’s thriving jazz scene.
