Who is kanekoayano? Kaneko Ayano is not an artist you can understand by skipping through the first 20 seconds of her songs or by checking the choruses, cos she doesn’t write those. She’s something different. This month alone, her and the band have played an epic - sold out - Tokyo Budokan show (11,000 attendees), a spectacular noise-version of the show - often at MBV levels - in a Nagoya livehouse and a solo acoustic in a 1500 cap hall - no amps, no PA, just her voice and acoustic guitar. Tokyo Budokan is one of Japan’s most iconic venues where she has performed three sold out shows. In 2021, she appeared there with her band, and in 2023 held two days of shows at the venue — one solo acoustic show and one band show. They regularly tour large halls & arenas around Japan, headline festival stages and have completed successful headline tours of Asia, Australia and the UK. She has appeared multiple times at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL with her band. At FRF 2023 she performed on the WHITE STAGE(15,000 capacity) and in 2025, she appeared as co headliner on the RED MARQUEE STAGE (5000 capacity). Both performances reached full capacity, resulting in entry restrictions. “Kaneko Ayano” is a solo artist and, prior to the release of last year’s album, “thread of stone”, also a singer/songwriter with a backing band. Since then, they have become a band - “kanekoayano” - and she’s the singer. Kaneko Ayano is complicated.
